A Black Peony Ring Box’s Journey to a Beach Proposal

When a client reached out to me via an Instagram DM from New York, he was looking for the perfect frame for a very significant ring: an emerald-cut diamond set on a classic gold band. He was drawn to a few specific designs from my collection, and we began a deep, thoughtful discussion to see which design would best match the proposal and his partner’s taste.

Curation and the Perfect Harmony

Choosing a ring box is an intimate process. We deliberated between a few of my signature designs, and while each fits beautifully with a classic emerald-cut diamond, each brings a completely different feeling to the ring.

I shared my perspective on how different aesthetics would interact with the gorgeous ring he shared with me. While a softer palette offers a classic and elegant romance, the black and gold palette brings a dramatic, striking presentation.

Guided by his thoughts on her preferences, he decided on the Black Peony.

The rich, dark velvet interior and the bold black-and-gold hand-painted details create a clean, modern backdrop that allows the crisp, geometric facets of an emerald cut to truly pop. Since that specific piece was sold out at the time, I recreated the design from scratch as a made-to-order piece.

A Hidden Personal Touch

To make this box uniquely theirs, he requested a personal touch, adding initials. Considering the balance of the space inside the box and the overall design, I recommended placing their initials delicately inside the lid. This created a quiet, hidden detail that remains a private memory for them whenever the box stands open.

I carefully hand-painted the custom initials alongside the fine-line gold peony details before the piece was packaged and shipped across the Atlantic.

The Beautiful Proposal

I knew the client was planning a unique proposal, but I didn't know the exact plans for the big moment. I was truly moved when he later kindly shared a video and a photo of the proposal. It was a beautiful scene: him down on one knee on a warm, sunlit beach, holding the opened ring box with the diamond inside.

For me, it is deeply important that each client finds the ring box that fits their story perfectly. This is why I value the consulting process so much—it allows us to thoughtfully explore options and choose the right piece together. ニューヨークのお客様から、エメラルドカットのダイヤモンドリングにふさわしいリングボックスについて、InstagramのDMでご連絡をいただいたのがきっかけでした。

ゴールドの台座にエメラルドカットのダイヤモンドをあしらった、特別なプロポーズのための指輪。 その大切な瞬間とパートナーの方の好みに最も寄り添うデザインを見つけるため、いくつかの候補を検討しながらじっくりとご相談に乗らせていただきました。

優しくエレガントなデザインも候補に挙がりましたが、最終的にお客様が選ばれたのは、ドラマチックで存在感のある「黒牡丹（Black Peony）」のリングボックスでした。 黒とゴールドのモダンな色彩、そして内側の深い色合いが、エメラルドカットの直線的な輝きを美しく引き立てるデザインです。 当時この作品は完売していたため、オーダーメイドとして一から絵付けを行いました。

さらにお二人のイニシャルを入れたいとのご希望をいただいたため、ボックスのサイズ感や全体のバランスを考慮し、蓋の内側にさりげなく描き入れることをご提案しました。 ボックスを開いた瞬間にだけ見える、お二人だけの特別な秘密のディテールです。

後日、お客様が海辺での美しいプロポーズの動画と写真をシェアしてくださったのですが、 あたたかな夕暮れの光の中、ひざまずいてリングボックスを開くお姿はとても感動的でした。 このような人生の特別な瞬間のために、心を込めて一点一点手作業で絵付けを施し、お二人のこれからの物語に小さな彩りを添えられることを、心から光栄に思います。
